Treatment

Inj. Neurobion 2cc IM x daily x 5-10 injections.

Cap. Stresscaps 1 bd x 30 (BComplex)

If pale, give hematinic. Cap. Autrin 1 OD x 30.

If B-complex was not effectve, give.

Inj. MECONERV 500mg IM x OD x 10.

Tab. MEconerv 500mg tds x 2-3 months.

If alcoholic, stop alcohol completely.

Add. Tab. Calmpose 5mg bd if withdrawal symptoms.

If tobacco eater, Stop eating tobacco, Mawa, Pan-parag etc.

If diabetic control diabetics with Plain insulin and not with oral drugs.

 

If no relief, Give

 

Inj. Calcium Vit C 10cc I.V. slowly daily x 5 days.

Tab. WYSOLONE 5mg 1tds x 10 days non-diabetic (short course steroid)

 

In all peripheral neuropathies, Rule out diabetes.

While treating Diabetic Peripheral neuritis, it is most important that Diabetes is controlled with Plain insulin 2-3 times/ day. Oral drugs may bring down Blood sugar levels to normal, but neuritis will not respond.

 

If burning sensation of feet and soles,

 

Tab. Calcium Panthothenate 50mg x 1bd x 30 days.

Rule out Diabetes. If present, control on Plain insulin.

Rule out Leprosy. If sensations are reduced and nerves thickened, ask for skin biopsy.

 

If Tingling/ Burning in one limb:

 

Upper Limb:

X-ray Cervical spine – For cervical spondylitis.

If only palm and flingers tingle-? Carpal tunnel syndrome.

If anesthesia, hypopignmented patches, thick ulnar-? Leprosy.

Lower Limb:

Xray LS spine for Sciatica. If in  doubt, refer to Orthopedic surgeon.
